Trading what we are good at

My workplace is a local plumbing dealership..

I have been with the company for about twelve years plus have worked my way up from making house call to now managing the store. For years now, we were the only plumbing dealership around town so business was always legitimately good; However, that changed about a year ago when a couple of other plumbing companies opened up close to us! We slowly began to lose business plus for a while it didn’t really make a big difference on our bottom line. But in the past few months I have noticed a big difference plus I need to start thinking of new ways to attract business. I called a local Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C dealer that is in the same plaza as we are to see if they wanted to trade services. The Heating, Ventilation & A/C dealer was a little confused about what I meant, so I told him we would start recommending his Heating, Ventilation & A/C dealer to our shoppers if he would start recommending our services to his Heating, Ventilation & A/C shoppers. When I explained everything the Heating, Ventilation & A/C tech transferred me to his manager plus we talked on the iphone for a while. I was glad when the manager of the Heating, Ventilation & A/C dealer agreed to exchange services with me. I guess this is going to be a great relationship between my plumbing dealer plus the Heating, Ventilation & A/C dealer next door. I hope we start to see an increase in business soon because the last thing I want to do is close down the company.
