I have worked my way up from making house calls to now managing the store.
We were the only plumbing business around the neighborhood for years, so business was constantly good! However, that changed about a year ago when a new plumbing company opened up close to us. We slowly began losing business and for a while it didn’t make much of a difference on our bottom line. Over the past couple of weeks, though, I have observed a huge difference and I need to start thinking of new tactics to improve business. I called a local Heating and Air Conditioning business that is in the same complex as we are, to see if they wanted to trade services. The Heating and Air Conditioning specialist was a little confused about what I meant, so I told him we would start recommending his Heating and Air Conditioning business to our buyers if he would start recommending our business to his Heating and Air Conditioning buyers. Once I explained everything the Heating and Air Conditioning tech transferred me to his manager and we talked on the cellphone for a while. I was delighted when the manager of the Heating and Air Conditioning business agreed to exchange services with me. I guess this is going to be a great partnership between our plumbing business and the Heating and Air Conditioning business next door. I truly hope that we start to see an increase in business soon, for the last thing I want to do is close down the business.
