My job is with a local plumbing corporation.
- I have been with the business for numerous years & have worked my way up from making house calls to becoming manager of the store.
For several years, we were the sole plumbing business around town so business was consistently really good. However, that changed about a year ago when a two other plumbing companies opened up close to us. Gradually, we started losing customers & for a while it didn’t actually make a large difference to our income. However, over the past few months I have noticed a large difference & I need to start creating new tactics to get business. I called a local Heating & Air Conditioning business that is in the same complex as ours, to see if they wanted to trade services. The Heating & Air Conditioning serviceman was a little unsure about what I meant, so I told him we would start recommending his Heating & Air Conditioning business to our customers if he would start recommending our business to his Heating & Air Conditioning customers. As soon as I explained everything, the Heating & Air Conditioning tech transferred me to his employer & we talked on the cellphone for a while. I was glad when the manager of the Heating & Air Conditioning business agreed to exchange services with me. I think this is going to be a fantastic partnership between my plumbing business & my Heating & Air Conditioning business neighbours. I actually hope that we start to see an increase in profits really soon because the last thing I want to do is close down the corporation.
