One day I was visiting my Grandmother in the Summer plus it was particularly hot that day.
Sweat covering my forehead, I nervously approached her front door. As soon as I heard that her home had air conditioning, I knew I had to visit, but upon entering her home, I saw Grandmother good in her favorite rocking chair while using a handheld fan. “Grandmother, why haven’t you turned on the air conditioning? It is severely hot in here plus outside!” I yelled. She said that she doesn’t need any fancy air conditioning. She smiled a bit plus said, “Nature provides my air conditioning.” She then jumped up from her seat plus opened every window in the room before I could ask her what she meant, but you can hear doves plus some of the local kids down the street as the hot breeze blew in. The heat wasn’t something I wanted plus right after that, she pulled the chain on the ceiling fan. It helped a little from the ceiling fan circulating air, much better than the heat from outside. She then said there was no need for one of those fancy air conditioning machines, but I knew she had one, and grandmother was just standing in the middle of the room, arm outstretched, enjoying the breeze from the fan plus the air coming through the windows. I sat down on the couch plus enjoyed it a bit. I recognize the straight-forward pleasures can be the most satisfying at times. I still wonder though, if there was no breeze, would this even help?
