I was looking through a magazine that offered novelty items and gifts for people who think they have everything.
My dad and mom were the hardest people to buy gifts for.
If they wanted something, they went out and bought it. My dad was a kid at heart, and he liked all these weird things that came out, and was fun to play with. I remember buying him a singing fish when I was a kid, and he got kicked out of it. I remembered how mom was always complaining about how cold the toilet seat was, and how it made her hip ache. I found a toilet that not only had a heated seat attached, but it had a heated toilet bowl. I was telling my sister about the toilet and asked if she knew they had heated toilet bowls. She remembered seeing one, but she would have never bought one. I told her I wanted to get it for dad for Christmas, but we needed someone to install it while they were away for an evening. Her husband was a plumber and offered to get everything we needed for the installation, and do the installation, if we made a gift from all of us. My sister wanted to upgrade the toilet to one that not only had heating in the seat and bowl, but that also had a nightlight in the toilet. Our parents were about to get a gift that made mom more comfortable, but would appeal to the fun side that dad had. It was the perfect gift for both of them.
