My roommates and I have been inseparable since we started our freshman year together, starting university in a current state with brand new friends was super intimidating to we at first, but I’m truthfully having the time of my life, and I wasn’t able to go home for the winter because it was too overpriced, so I spent a quiet holiday season alone in my dorm room. It got actually freezing because the building is old, so I had to grab multiple space furnaces at the hardware store to make sure the dorm room was comfortable. I used those furnaces almost the entire day since I was constantly there, but no one was actually on campus plus the only areas that were open didn’t have fantastic furnaces in them either. At least with the space heating system I knew I would feel comfortable and cozy, then however, one evening I noticed that one of the space furnaces started to have a funny smell, so I pointed it in the other direction while I slept. Next thing you know, I’m waking up to smoke all around us and fire sprinklers drenching my pillow because the space heating system ended up blowing out in the evening. I must have been so tired because I didn’t even hear the heating system fall to the floor. I jumped out of bed and grabbed the fire extinguisher to relinquish any flames or smoke before I carefully unplugged both heaters. I slept the rest of the evening in the freezing cold because I was too afraid to use either of them, and I went back to the hardware store for a refund the next day.
