I was working on a oil furnace at the local nursing home; I usually came in to do all the servicing on the Heating & Air Conditioning system, & no 1 bothers me. When I walked in that day, there was a current resident. Amelia was now ninety, & she never got over his death. She thought that every Heating & Air Conditioning professional should know her partner. I asked her what the name of the Heating & Air Conditioning company was that he owned. It didn’t take long to find out I was working for Amelia’s great grandson. I couldn’t wait to get back to the office & tell him I met his great-Grandma. When I told him about her, he said he hadn’t seen her in several years. I told him he needed to visit, because she was a sweet old lady.

I have to say that I’m truly surprised by where the two of us landed for our retirement.

What makes it all the more surprising is the fact that it’s not at all where my wife and I planned to be.

The idea was to move south to all the air conditioner and leave any semblance of Winter time behind. The people I was with and I even updated the residential HVAC in our ancient house and sold it in anticipation of moving south. The people I was with and I rented an house for the final year of my work and were ready to go south to the land of the heat pump. Well, the two of us ended up getting the heat pump but it sure wasn’t where the two of us planned on being. Our child gave birth to our first grandchild and the two of us decided to move closer to her in the midwest. And with the money the two of us made from selling our house, the two of us chose to build a house. It was something that the two of us had constantly wanted to do anyway. The people I was with and I are blissful to be living here and appreciate our new home. The people I was with and I especially appreciate the residential HVAC. Instead of going the traditional route, the two of us opted to go with a geothermal heat pump. It just made so much more sense all the way around. The people I was with and I genuinely wanted the heating and cooling in our condo to be sustainable. And even though a geo heat pump comes with higher initial costs, it was worth it in the long run. Not only do I appreciate the radiant floor heating but the cost of HVAC is far less with a geo heat pump. So it all turned out truly well and we’re glad right where the two of us are.

The people I was with and I weren’t 2 weeks into being cooped up inside the central air conditioner of our condo before I knew that I needed my own space.

For 1, I truly didn’t enjoy having to share the air conditioner inside the small condo office with my wife. Much of my work requires a lot concentration and focus.
