Life has been a bit difficult of late. My boyfriend decided that he wanted to end things and told me to move out of the apartment that we shared. We moved away from our home town years ago so I had no choice but to ask a friend if I could stay with her until I found a place. I put most of my things in storage and set up in her guest room to sort my life out. I knew I needed to find a place but she told me that I could stay as long and I needed and I appreciated that. At first I was just happy to have a great place to stay where I wouldn’t be questioned about my failed relationship. After about a week or so I came to the realization that I needed to find a place sooner rather than later. Her place was spacious enough and she respected my privacy, but her apartment has no air conditioning. I am not sure how she survives in the summer heat without it but I am so uncomfortable that I can’t even sleep at night. She gave me a fan to put next to the bed but that is just not enough. Of course, going back there is not an option and I still haven’t found a place I can afford on my own with that amenity. I have reached the point where I am willing to purchase my own window unit at use that in an apartment without central air. I don’t want to hurt my friends feelings by telling her that her place is awful after all.
