Two HVAC units is way too much for one house

When my husband and I started looking at houses on the market, we realized there were some bad options out there.

There was one house we named the cat pee house. It reeked of cat pee and there were a ton of strays out there. Another house had a giant sinkhole right in the middle of the lawn. I really didn’t want to know the long term damage that was around there. One house I really liked. The living room had wall to ceiling windows. There was a huge storage area that you could put a home gym in. The bathrooms were quite new and the kitchen was set up cute. The only downside was that the previous owner had two HVAC units. There was one from the front of the house and one for the back. The house wasn’t large enough to warrant tow heating and cooling devices. So what was the deal with that? My husband immediately wanted to nix the house. He said we would spend most of our lives dealing with HVAC repairs, service and tune ups. He figured it meant something was wrong with the insulation of the house and it wasn’t laid out correctly. I really was attached to the living area and was overlooking the HVAC cover. We then toured around and bought a different home. Now living in a home with a single HVAC unit and doing that maintenance on it, I am so glad that I didn’t end up in the two HVAC houses. That would have been horrible to deal with.
