Boiler turns out to be the best feature of new home

A few years ago, my wife and I bought a new home.

It is outfitted with a boiler heating system.

At first, we weren’t overly thrilled with this. We were so happy with everything else about the property, but didn’t like the idea of a boiler. We assumed that boilers are noisy, messy and demand a lot of upkeep. Since the boiler was nearly twenty years old, I suspected it would fail shortly and planned to upgrade it. After living in the house, we totally changed our minds. The boiler is probably the best appliance in the house. The only issue is the lack of any cooling capability. But we live in the northeast, and the weather is below 32 degrees for eight months of the year. We aren’t worried about air conditioning. We require a heating unit than can handle temperatures down to eighteen degrees below zero. It needs to operate dependably and provide sufficient warmth. The boiler keeps up with demand and maintains a very gentle comfort and consistent temperature. The boiler runs silently and is fine with only annual service. Because the heating system is a closed plan and uses water to move energy, it doesn’t spread dust or other allergens into the indoor air. My home remains very clean. There’s no threat against indoor air quality. The boiler shows no signs of quitting. It links to baseboard heaters and radiant flooring. We enjoy baseboard heating in most of the rooms. We remodeled the master bedroom and attached bathroom to install radiant flooring. Nothing compares to the enjoyment of walking barefoot across a toasty warm floor on a chilly winter night.
