Some people think I am cheap, but others call it frugal.
I don’t call myself either cheap or frugal, but I do make wise purchases.
I like buying things on sale and saving some money. I don’t mind spending money if I am getting good quality. I do like to put money in the bank, so if I am spending a lot of money on something, I better be able to have energy efficiency and savings. When I found out how important a HVAC maintenance plan was, I started looking into it a bit more closely. I found out that if you have your heating and air conditioning thoroughly inspected and repaired before the season, you could save a lot of money. The flip side was that to have the maintenance inspection done, could be quite pricey. I wanted to get more information on a maintenance agreement, so I called the HVAC company. I had a fairly new HVAC system, and I wanted to keep it running well. They told me the price to have the maintenance done, and I was floored. Then they told me that for about that same price, I could buy a two-year Maintenance and repair plan on the entire heating and air conditioning system. This would include an annual cleaning and inspection for both my air conditioning and furnace, for both years, plus if repairs were made, all I paid for was the parts. I also had two other annual calls that I could have for free. I signed up for the agreement, and asked to have a HVAC tech come out and clean my furnace and do the maintenance.
