Mother May I?

My sister and I decided to play a game of Mother May I for old times sake the other day.

We are both in our 20’s and are full grown adults, but sometimes we like to be goofy.

So, today, my sister asked me if she could turn off the air conditioner unit, even though it is in the dog days of summer, and she followed up by asking “Mother may I?”, which I then said, “Yes, you may.” So we kept up with this game, as the indoor air quality became worse and worse, and we were both sweating. I was “Mother” for a very long time, only being able to answer with “Yes, you may.” I then became so exhausted from the heat, I felt like I was going to faint until my sister asked if she could “..cut the air conditioner system back on so that you don’t die?” I weakly replied, “Yes…you may!”, and fell out on the floor. When I opened my eyes, I was surrounded by a refreshing breeze from the cooling system our wonderful HVAC system. My sister said that she promised to never do that again and that she will always keep the air conditioner on to keep me happy and alive because she was so worried about what had happened to me. I was still very weak and tired from heat exhaustion, so I asked her for a popsicle and an ambulance. She brought me a grape popsicle as she explained that she’d already contacted 911, I just happened to wake up before they’d arrived. We learned a very important lesson that day: Never play with the air conditioning unit!
