Bad Luck

Sometimes I wonder if I don’t have the worst luck in the entire world.

When something goes wrong at my house, it’s like everything else goes wrong too! I don’t know what the deal is with me and the appliances that are in my house. Last week my gas stove tore up and this week it’s the air conditioning. Of course, the air conditioning would start tearing up on the very week that we need to start using it on a daily basis. The weather has just now started heating up, but I’m one of those people who doesn’t like keeping the windows at my house open because I have terrible allergy issues in the summer. Anyway, when I went to switch my thermostat unit over from heating to air conditioning, something popped and I heard a weird thunk coming from the furnace room down in the basement. And then, on top of that, I smelled a burning smell wafting up through the air vents! This was not a good sign, and I immediately panicked. I didn’t know whether or not to call the fire department! Instead of calling the fire department, though, I ended up calling the emergency number for the HVAC company downtown. They were able to have an HVAC maintenance technician come to my house almost immediately because he was on a furnace call out in our area. I was so happy to see that HVAC technician that I almost kissed him! He was able to fix my A/C in about an hour, but it’s going to cost me quite a bit.
