My thermostat is giving me issues

A lot of folks are into making investments, but I prefer investments of a different kind. High finance has always been way beyond me. Even when someone explains economics in simple terms I have a hard time keeping up with it, it just all sounds like gibberish to me. I can still make investments, though, I just choose to invest in people. There was a neighborhood boy who came from a broken home, and had his fair share of troubles, but he was a smart kid. I invested my time and money in this boy, hoping that one day, somehow, karma would reward my investment. When he graduated high school, I paid for him to take HVAC course at the local night school, so he could earn his certification. He passed and within a few months he had a great job as a heating and cooling tech for a local contractor. Already my investment had paid off, because the troubled kid was now a functional adult with a great HVAC job. As a bonus, he came by every couple of months to check out my furnace or my air conditioner and give it a tune up for me on the house. He told me recently that he has been taking more night classes, in business and finance, so he can open up his own heating and cooling repair shop. I told him that when he graduated to come and talk to me, because investing some money into an HVAC business seems like it could be a smart move for me.
