Bad Luck

Sometimes I wonder if I don’t have the worst luck in the entire world.

When something goes wrong at my house, it’s like everything else goes wrong too! I don’t know what the deal is with me and the appliances that are in my house. Last week my gas stove tore up and this week it’s the air conditioning. Of course, the air conditioning would start tearing up on the very week that we need to start using it on a daily basis. The weather has just now started heating up, but I’m one of those people who doesn’t like keeping the windows at my house open because I have terrible allergy issues in the summer. Anyway, when I went to switch my thermostat unit over from heating to air conditioning, something popped and I heard a weird thunk coming from the furnace room down in the basement. And then, on top of that, I smelled a burning smell wafting up through the air vents! This was not a good sign, and I immediately panicked. I didn’t know whether or not to call the fire department! Instead of calling the fire department, though, I ended up calling the emergency number for the HVAC company downtown. They were able to have an HVAC maintenance technician come to my house almost immediately because he was on a furnace call out in our area. I was so happy to see that HVAC technician that I almost kissed him! He was able to fix my A/C in about an hour, but it’s going to cost me quite a bit.

What’s the Trouble?

I was wondering why it was so cold in my house this morning when I got up to go to work.

Usually the thermostat has already started running its regularly scheduled programming.

I always have my heating system set to come on around 6:30 in the morning so that when I go into the bathroom to get showered and ready for the day, I can stand by the heating vents and let the nice warm air blow out on my feet. But this morning I noticed that the furnace wasn’t running when I first got out of bed – and the heating still wasn’t on when I got out of the shower. I wasn’t sure what the issue was, but I did know that I was freezing as I stood there dripping in my towel in the bathroom! I don’t like it when the heating doesn’t run like it’s supposed to! I went into the utility room over by the garage and checked my digital programmable thermostat, but everything on the digital screen looked exactly the way that it always does. I just didn’t understand it. I couldn’t figure it out no matter what I did, and so I finally gave up and got dressed while I was shivering. At least the temperature outside wasn’t as cold as it normally is this time of year. Once I got dressed I started heating up but I never did get warm enough inside the house I had to get in the car and turn the heater all the way on full blast before I stopped feeling cold. I guess I’ll have to call the HVAC company once I get to work.

Home auto device includes wireless temperature control which improves Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C management

I got by with the same outdated temperature control for nearly twenty years; I bought the temperature control for around 10 dollar from a local hardware store and installed it myself.

It consisted of a plain plastic dial that allowed me to adjust the indoor temperature up or down.

It didn’t maintain a precise indoor temperature… To make any type of change, I need to physically turn the dial! When I decided to update into a wireless temperature control, I was a bit overwhelmed by the cost and many options. I had no system which temperature control would be compatible with my heating and cooling system. I concerned that I’d mess up the upgrade or be unable to handle the setup. I hired a local Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C business to supply recommendations. The Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C worker talked me into investing into a full on condo automation system. The condo automation includes the wireless temperature control and a whole lot more, but any appliance that offers wireless linkivity can be integrated into the system, however my sump pump, washing machine, dryer, oven, lighting system, oil furnace and air conditioning system are all incorporated into the single control. Through an app on my smartphone, I can check the operation of these essential systems, set up automatic programs, get alerts, and make changes. The condo automation system further includes occupancy sensors that know when a room is empty or in use. It adjusts lighting, temperature and even the sound system accordingly. There’s a surveillance camera that lets me know if there’s someone knocking on the front door and shows me a real time image. I get notified if a window or door is opened, and I can unquestionably manage locks for added security. The condo automation system has made everyday life more convenient while improving comfort and efficiency.

Home auto system includes WIFI control device, improves Heating and A/C management

I got by with the same seasoned control device for nearly twenty years.

  • I purchased the control device for around more than nine dollar from a local hardware store and installed it myself.

It consisted of a plain plastic dial that allowed myself and others to adjust the indoor temperature up or down. It didn’t maintain a precise indoor temperature; To make any type of change, I need to physically turn the dial, and when I decided to update into a WIFI control unit, I was a bit overwhelmed by the cost and many options. I had no idea which control device would be compatible with my heating and cooling system. I worried that I’d mess up the replacement or be unable to handle the setup. I hired a local Heating and A/C business to give recommendations. The Heating and A/C serviceman talked myself and others into investing into a full on beach home automation system. The beach home automation includes the WIFI control device and a whole lot more. Any appliance that offers WIFI attachivity can be integrated into the system, but my sump pump, washing machine, dryer, oven, lighting system, gas furnace and air conditioning are all incorporated into the single control. Through an app on my smartphone, I can check the operation of these essential systems, set up automatic programs, get alerts, and make changes. The beach home automation system further includes occupancy sensors that think when a room is empty or in use. It adjusts lighting, temperature and even the sound system accordingly. There’s a surveillance camera that lets myself and others think if there’s someone knocking on the front door and shows myself and others a real time image. I get notified if a window or door is opened, and I can undoubtedly manage locks for added security. The beach home automation system has made everyday life more convenient while improving comfort and efficiency.

Having a bunch of animals in the house makes an media air cleaner a necessity

I have numerous fairly sizable dogs that all live inside the house.

  • The dogs are genuinely furry and shed quite a bit.

I’m continually bathing and brushing them. Although I frequently have the dogs groomed, there’s just no escape from the fur and dander. I either vacuum or run a swiffer through the house every afternoon. The filter for the vacuum cleaner is consistently plugged, and because of the dogs, I worry about air quality and the operation of the oil furnace and air conditioner. I think the official air filters within the heating and cooling system aren’t sufficient to handle such excessive amounts of fur and dander. The filters abruptly become dirty and contaminants manage to get inside the inner laborings of the oil furnace and air conditioner. This debris then collects on moving parts, obstructs airflow and increases the likelihood of malfunction. I’m at risk of higher running costs, Heating, Ventilation and A/C malfunction and air quality threats. I spent quite a bit of time researching uncommon types of air quality accessories. There’s an abundance of chances on the current market. I wanted something that would run 24/7, treat the entire beach house and combat odors, pathogens and allergens. I finally chose a whole-beach house media air cleaner that cleans the indoor air up to eight times every hour. The media air cleaner is tucked inside the heating/cooling machine and operates silently. It runs all afternoon, throughout the year, and effectively captures and kills bacteria, viruses and fungus. It traps dust, dander, pollen, smoke particles and much more, since installing the media air cleaner, I’ve had less Heating, Ventilation and A/C maintenance and my beach house stays much cleaner. The air odors better, and I have more confidence in the air quality.

I love the cold

I pride myself on being able to endure very cold weather. Where some people may be wearing jackets and jeans in colder weather, I may very well be going around in shorts and a t-shirt and flip-flops. Maybe I just run warm, but I don’t have much of a problem with the cold. In fact, more often than not, I find the cold comfortable. I will admit there are times when I turn on my air conditioning unit, even though it is still during the colder months of the year! I particularly like sleeping in a cold room. I like it where it’s cold enough that I need to wrap myself up in blankets and feel all cozy. I really do enjoy my air conditioning unit. The people that I have over to hang out with often do not however, at least not to the levels that I enjoy. Many will immediately remark upon entering my home how cold it is. I always sigh and shrug, but I’m not a jerk, so I do turn the thermostat up a few notches. I guess in that regard, there’s something liberating about living alone. I can set the air conditioning unit to as cold as I please, and nobody will complain! Still, I’m currently in a relationship and starting to wonder what my girlfriend would think of my thermostat preferences. Actually, I’m pretty sure I know exactly how she would feel, considering the fact that she’s always complaining about how cold it is, even though she hasn’t even been to my apartment yet!

Air conditioner refrigerant leak

I sure do love air conditioning. You tend to get a healthy appreciation for it where I live. The year is almost entirely characterized by warm and humid weather, with a bit of precious relief during certain seasons, such as fall and winter. We barely ever need our heating systems, at least I feel that we don’t, because winter weather can often be delightful in comparison to the heat that we usually experienced during most of the rest of the year. That’s why I was a little concerned a couple months ago with my air conditioning unit stopped producing cool air. I mean, that is the one thing that it’s supposed to be doing, right? I noticed that it was a gradual decline. At one time, the air was pretty cool, and then it became a little less cool, and then there was a whisper of coolness, and then it became downright tepid. It got to the point where I could not stand not getting cool air from my A/C any longer, so I called out an HVAC technician to help me. I was concerned that the service call in the repair was going to be expensive, but I was resolved to pay any price to fix my A/C unit! Thankfully, the problem was nothing more than a refrigerant leak, and overall, the cost of bringing my air conditioning unit back up to 100% wasn’t that bad. It was a good thing too, because the hot weather was just beginning to start, and I needed my precious air conditioning for relief!

Faulty A/C making grinding noises

I’m not too keen on hearing strange noises in the night.

I don’t live in the best of neighborhoods, but I make do with what I have.

I have measures in place for my own safety and security, but that was not the problem for the past few nights that I was hearing strange noises. There was a grinding scraping noise coming from somewhere in my home that I would occasionally notice in the later hours. Eventually, the noise got so bad that it occasionally woke me up from my sleep! I did not notice the pattern at first, but then I began to draw parallels. I turn my air conditioning unit up the highest at night when I go to bed. I need that powerful, cool air in order to be able to sleep well. It really makes all the difference in the world for my quality of sleep. I noticed that the grinding and scraping noises were occurring when my air conditioning unit was working the hardest. Perhaps there were certain mechanical components that were being worn down or were out of place. I did not like the idea of corroded or loose parts in my air conditioning unit, so I called out my HVAC technician as soon as I could! Thankfully, he was able to discover the problem and replace and repair all the parts that needed attention. He told me it was a good thing that I called him out when I did because the problem would only have gotten worse from there!
