We do have many options for heating equipment

There are honestly more than one options when it comes to heated flooring! You can go electric or hydronic.

If you want heated flooring for a lower cost, electric heating is the way to go.

The homeowner needs to rip up the existing flooring and install electric mats. Then new flooring, preferably tile, goes overtop. The mats have zig zagging lines of electric and this is how it provides heating. Electric is not cheap, but it gets the task done and you don’t have to worry about indoor air conditions, however no air is being blown and potentially putting dust in the air quality. Also, the air quality doesn’t get dry and irritate a homeowners skin. But, the electric option is just not as great as hydronic heating. The hydronic radiant floors link with a boiler system, however piping links to the boiler and is really installed within the new floorboards. The boiler heats water and the tepid water flowing through the pipes is what causes the heating. No air being blown again, but a bizarre system of heating. The hydronic oil furnace is way more effective and efficient at providing heating! However, the system of radiant heating is so much more extravagant. You need to purchase a boiler system, piping and redo your flooring. Boilers are not cheap either. But, this type of radiant heating will last much longer than simply using the electric mats. But, they both do supply even heating, wash indoor air conditions and silent production. So it all depends on what you have in the budget for heating.
