Setting up the radiant floors in lavatory

Since I was a little girl, I have dreamed of having underfloor heating in our lavatory.

I work as a professor so I have the summers off, and sometimes I go on trip but, more often than not, I just try to learn a new skill over our Summer trip.

This past trip I attempted to put heating under our lavatory flooring. I researched it a lot, study up on everything, & got the supplies would need. I then began ripping up the brick in the lavatory. This was a lot of work & undoubtedly messy, once that was done, I laid down the heat matting. Of course I was careful not to chop the wire that runs through the matting. After that, it was a simple as gouging out a space for the control equipment & wiring up the control unit. The hardest section was sitting the new brick back down. It took myself and others a long time to master the brick cutter. I had to go back to the home improvement store & buy a few extra tiles because I ruined some of them. It took myself and others all Summer but by the time school started up again, I had heated floor in our lavatory, just as I consistently wanted, however plus, I l earned a few new skills. As Fall settled in, I was enthusiastic to have a hot floor to rest on while I got ready to head to work. But now I am wishing that the rest of our lake house had radiant floors too. Perhaps I will work on 1 room per Summer until our whole lake house has heated floor. It should only take about many years.
