A blower working overtime can trip the circuit breaker

Sometimes, it can be costly to be forgetful. I’m very happy with my air conditioning unit, but sometimes I forget some basic maintenance that allows it to be as effective as it’s been. I try to remember to change out the air filters regularly, but there was this one time in particular where I forgot for quite a stretch of time. The air conditioning unit was working fine at first, but over time I noticed some problems. Airflow did not seem to be as strong as in the past. My house would still eventually get to the temperature I desired, so I ignored it. Then one day, the air conditioning unit did not work at all, and I came to realize that the circuit breaker tripped. I didn’t think much of it at first and fixed the problem and continued to use the HVAC unit. The circuit breaker tripped again that night and I didn’t realize it until I was laying in bed all hot and sweaty. I fixed it again and then went back to bed. Then, around 4 a.m. my eyes popped open and I realized that I had not changed the air filter in forever! I changed out the air filter the next day and called out an HVAC technician for good measure. The HVAC technician explained that there had been some major blockage of airflow, and as a result, the blower was working overtime. This is what was tripping the breaker. It’s time I started posting notes on the refrigerator about HVAC maintenance!
