I seriously love hurricanes.
However, I do not like the tremendous damage that they cause, but I enjoy just being able to get through one.
The sounds of the wind as the eye of the storm passes over the land during the night time, whistling as the storm passes us by is my favorite part of a hurricane. Most people think that I am crazy when I tell them this, but it is true. Now, the part I really don’t like is when the power goes out because it causes my HVAC unit to also stop working. One year, during hurricane season, my family was very lucky to not have had to experience a major power outage during the hurricane! It was amazing! As the winds whistled past our neighborhood, we still had electricity and air conditioning! Other families were without power for a few hours, up to 2 whole weeks! We allowed some of our friends to stay with us until their power came back on, which they were grateful for because their houses were hot and stuffy with horrible indoor air quality. Some of their children suffered from asthma, and so it was very medically necessary for them to have access to air conditioning. I love the beauty of a hurricane, and how the air quality feels so cool and pure right before the storm approaches, I also like how it seems to bring families and friends together in times of need and makes us realize what we take for granted.
